I was diagnosed with cervical cancer yesterday. How long does it take for it to become invasive cancer?

The biopsy showed that it was cancer but couldn't conclude if it was still contained in the cervix or not. My 2004 pap was normal but like a fool I skip 2005. Any hopeful words will be appreciated.

sorry to hear your news but my mom had it long ago & had a hysterecomy to take care of the cancer. she never had to go throgh chemo. ata ll & has been cancer free since the surgery was done back in the mid 1970's. talk to your gyno. about that please & soon.
1-2 years?
I'm sorry to hear this. I don't know how long it would take to become an invasive cancer. That probably varies from person to person and depends on the level of cancer already? Did you catch it early?

My aunt battled cervical cancer last year. Apparently she had NEVER gone for a pap smear because she's a Muslim woman and felt uncomfortable removing her clothes, etc. in front of somebody. She went in when she was feeling bad, and they caught it soooo far along. But, even so, after maybe 6 months of treatment, she is now 100% cancer free.

Please talk to your doctor about any questions you have about cervical cancer, including the one you just posted. They are there to answer your questions. All the best to you.
Please dont be so hard on yourself. There are many of us that dont have these tests as often as we should. They are NOT pleasent now are they? I would ask your doctor these questions or go to a cancer support site community board. You probably will not find the answers here that you are seeking and you sound serious. There are many people out there that can give you advice because they have been there. Find a cancer support site.
Good luck and God bless.
a few years ago my doctor said that our government thought every two years was good enough if the previous pap tests were normal (however she recommended yearly all the same). the point is, all the chances are it should still be early enough to nip it in the bud. i don't think you should worry excessively over it. just get on with the treatment as soon as possible.
