Why is Cervical Cancer being treated like an STD? People treat me like I had the flu. Why? unfortunately this is what happens after using scare tactics to stop teens from having sex. they (the media) state all of this different types of stds and cancers that you can get from having unprotected sex... one of the things that ties cervical cancer into this is, is that some cervical cancers are a result of a virus called hpv. which you can get from your sexual partner. most people dont know much about cervical cancer so they just naturally assume everything is true on television and then they assume that you got cervical cancer because you were promiscuous, which is bogus. people are just ignorant sometimes, and so are some advertisments. we all need to remember that cervical cancer can also be hereditary.... just put your chin up hun. dont worry about it, people arent always the brightest... good luck with your treatment... Source(s): my friend had cervical cancer stage 3 because it is related to having many sexual partners. and many people know this now. multiple partners causes the cancerous tendencies in young women. Theyre ignorant, and belive all the media hype, that's why. Don't worry what people say, just take care of youreslf and get better soon. because it's strongly related to infection with human papilloma virus which is an STD Apparently they don't know any better. Don't let it bother you, you other things to concentrate on. I hope you get better, soon!!!! It is unfortunate that people treat someone with cancer poorly. Most cervical cancers are now known to be caused by the HPV virus, which IS an STD,but this does NOT necessarily mean that you are "loose" . Unfortunately it seems like a stigma now. |
