I May have cervical cancer but lck the founds for a follow up.? |
I have history of cancer in my family. Now I had an abnormal pap. It shows some virus that has the potinal 2 turn into cervical cancer. but my Doc says " dont panic in most cases it goes away. almost every woman has had the virus @ some point and time. We'll do a follow up in six months". That was eight months ago. I couldn't go back to the Doc because I lack the founds. My medical card was cancled and its a posiblity I wont recieve another. Even if so it takes months to even get an apointment. What should I do? Are you a student? Go to your school's clinic. You can also try Planned Parenthood - they offer a lot of different services and you won't have to pay more than you're able. The problem is that they often have a wait, much like your current doctor. I think the most important thing to do is not to worry and try to eliminate as many stressors from your life as possible. I know what you're thinking: "This person is crazy, how am I supposed to relax with the threat of cancer?" Well, it's hard, but I had to do it too! When your body is stressed it has a harder time doing its natural healing functions, so all-important is to stay as calm as possible. Try meditation, yoga, deep breathing, visualizing a healthy cervix, or whatever makes you feel at peace with the world. Secondly, if you do have abnormal cells, the best thing to do is to arm your body to fight them. This is accomplished by exercising and following a healing diet full of fruits and vegetables and whole graings. Try browsing through your local bookstore's health section, looking for titles by Andrew Weil and Linda Page (two well-known natural health experts). Some books will even offer natural therapies involving depositories that help slough off the unhealthy cells in your cervix. Finally, start saving. No matter what you make, I'm sure you can afford to put aside ten or twenty dollars every paycheck. The cancer is relatively slow moving, so in a couple months you should have enough for another appointment. Make that appointment now - you don't have to pay for it until you get there, and if you don't have money by that time you can easily cancel it. Chin up - more women than you would imagine deal with abnormal paps, and cervical cancer is not one that's determined by genetics. You will get through it, just keep your mind calm and be thankful every day for how healthy you are now, imagining yourself free of any abnormal cells. More than likely you have HPV which could lead to cervical cancer if left untreated!! Keep up with going to the doctor!!! |
