Did you know that cervical cancer is caused by a virus call HPV? |
If you didn't, now you do. It's very important that every female know this. It is also very important to get your annual pap smears...they really could save your life even though you'd rather eat nails than have a pap done. For most women, HPV usually goes away on its own, but for others, it can develop into cancer...NO ONE WANTS THAT! Take care of yourselves!! Another important thing to realize is that HPV often has NO SYMPTOMS so it might be hard to diagnose someone with HPV. Definitely get checked next time you go to the gyno. Thanks for the reminder! :) I know. Anyway, thanks for the info YES THERE IS A COMMERCIAL ON TV THAT TALKS ABOUT IT. I ALREADY KNOW THANKS! HPV never really goes away. It lies dormant. Some people never see it show up in them but they are carriers. My own personal opinion is that although they SAY it is a sexually transmitted disease, I think everyone has it -- they either show it or they don't. Why else would certain people have cervical cancer that never showed HPV?!....it's strange....but I do agree that every woman should get her yearly pap.. :) not all cervical cancers are caused by HPV though....I had pre-cancerous cells, and was screened for HPV, it was found that I have a very rare condition, that is genetic....they do not know what to even call it. Yes, this is very true. I had my first pap at 18 years old and was told it was abnormal. It was pre-cancerous cells to my cervix most commonly caused by HPV. I had to have 2 surgeries done (the surgeries I had done are called leap procedures) and thank God it went away after that. My sister had HPV several years ago and had some cancerous cells she had to get removed. No one had ever heard of HPV back then so I am glad the word is finally getting out. If she had not had a pap, they never would have found it since it really has no symptoms. She might not be here today. She was only in her early 20's at the time. Get this paps!! |
