Can being raped cause cervical cancer?


I have a friend who is convinced her being raped is the result of having been raped.

Yes, if the guy passes on the HPV, or Human Papaloma Virus, which has been known to cause cervical cancer on to her. That's a very tragic story, I'm so sorry for your friend! Rapists are almost worse than murderers.

It is possible. The Human Papyloma (not sure of spelling) Virus (you may have seen advertisements for preventative injections) which is one cause of cervical cancer has been linked to sexual transmission.
