I keep hearing women get cervical cancer from hpv, but how does it affect men? A few people are answering this wrong.... Men are not "just carriers" and HPV does directly affect men. Men can develop cancer from HPV and genital warts from HPV. Penile and anal cancer can be caused by HPV. It is pretty rare to develop these cancers though, especially compared to the number of women who developed cervical cancer from their HPV. Men can also develop genital warts from their HPV (my fiance did). And, men can carry certain kinds of HPV that only affect women (like a cervical cancer kind). Of course if they carry a cervical cancer kind of HPV it won't do anything to them, but if they spread it to a woman it can cause health problems for her. Check out the link below for more information about men and HPV: http://www.cdc.gov/std/hpv/stdfact-hpv-a... Source(s): Personal experience. I have had HPV for 6+ years. I have had cervical cancer and genital warts from my HPV. A man can carry the disease, give it to his virgin partner and make her sterile so that when they decide to have children, they can't. It doesn't affect men at all. They're latent carriers which mean they have no symptoms, they never know they're carriers, there's no test out there for them to find out. It does not cause sterility. Not all women get cervical cancer if they have HPV, it only makes them more prone. Some strains can cause genital warts. Often, however, men are asymptomatic. Yes, many man do get genital warts from it. It is, however, also the major cause of penile cancers. Men do not get away scott free. it says on net / men can get it./infect gential area and anus of men/may get cancer in that area/type in hpv-men/ and site will come up/ that is where i got my info |
