What are the causes of cervical cancer and any preventive suggestions regarding this disease.thanks? Some cervical cancers are caused by human papilloma virus; there is a relatively new vaccine called Gardisil (I think that is the correct spelling) which may prevent those cancers. Ask your doctor about it; you can be checked for hpv. There is a test Called C-125 that any lab can administer. Call you doctor today... Cervical cancer is caused by some strains of the Human Papilloma Viruses (HPV). It can only be contracted by sexual activity. So one way of preventing HPV infection is abstinence! Numbers of sexual partners increases the risk of HPV. Once contracted many infections of HPV get resolved by the bodies own defenses, however some go on to cause a chronic infection (no symptoms) and can cause cervical cancer. PAP smears can detect cervical cancers very early and can even detect pre-cancer changes, which can then be treated. Also when getting a PAP smear one can also get a test for HPV. New vaccine just out. Gardisil which is recommended for young girls before they even become sexually active. Somewhat controversial. Talk to your doctor. As someone esle answered cc is caused by the HPV virus log onto www.jotrust.co.uk an online support and information site that'll give you loads of good information. HPV virus is one of the leading causes. Dr's used to be more agressive when abnormal cells were found through PAP tests immediately freezing the cervix and doing biopsies. In the last 10 years or so they have found that early stages of abnormal cells will actually reverse themselves when green leafy vegetables are increased and stress is decreased, and smoking is a big deal too. Stage two level 3 cervical cancer that has eliminated itself.....for now. |
