For people who have had cervical cancer? |
I was told I might have cervical cancer and was wondering what were some of the symptoms you experienced that made you go to the docter? well you said MIGHT so thats good!!!! I had no symptoms I just went for a pap smear every year, had a bad pap and went for a biopsy, Mine all went away on its own eventually but most women i knew went for procedures this website will help you even if you dont have HPV which is the most common cause if your problem, if you do have HPV it usually means you DONT have the one that gives you warts. Just go to your doctor and keep up on your yearly pap smears until all is clear or you get the problem fixed :) just dont be scared and dont panic :) Source(s): http://hpvsupport.com/viewforum.php?f=1... I had pre-cancer of the cervix when I was 18. No symptoms, it came up in my pap smear. The doctor did cryotherapy. Basically, the doctor freezes your cervix with a cone- like instrument inserted into your vagina (does not hurt, just feels uncomfortable because of the nature of the procedure...like a pap smear). The cells die and shed so you have a light period. The cancer has not reoccured. I am guessing that if they caught it in time, this is the procedure they would give you, too. Sending good wishes your way. are you sure it is actually cancer and not just dysplasia?? patients have a tendency to think every abnormal pap is cancer and that is just not true. in fact, since the introduction of the pap smear cervical cancer rates have dropped tremendously. if you do have cancer, please accept my condolensces as this is a very difficult disease. if you have dysplasia, congratulations on being diagnosed. you are in a position to treat it now and prevent cervical cancer. A lot of women do not have symptoms. The abnormal cells were just picked up on the pap smear. Some do have irregular bleeding, painful intercourse, low pelvic discomfort, abnormal discharge, that prompts them to go to the doc. Some docs will wait for a repeat pap and if that is abnormal then they will proceed with the less invasive procedure first (such as laser or cyro.) That all depends on of course whether or not the cancer is invasive(or the stage it is also)Then they may have to do a hysterectomy or some other more extensive surgery. I just had laser surgery this week for stage 0 vaginal cancer and will get checked in 3 months to see if it is completely gone. If not, then they will do a partial vaginectomy. Good luck to you! Oh and by the way, ask your doc. if you have HPV. You might not have symptoms. I had a scare earlier this year too. and all I could think of was my daughter and who would take care of her. BUt hope you the best... |
