What are your thoughts of the cervical cancer vaccine? |
What are your thoughts on the HPV vaccine? Do you feel that this is a major issue? Isn't the best way to prevent HPV to not be sexually active outside of marriage? I think its a good idea.. I honestly think its a good thing, but the side effects are kinda risky. I would actually recommend it I think its work in progress and they are on the right track. Marriage is an option and Not a requirement so what does that have to do with cancer. yes but then the best way to avoid any virus is to not have conatact with people or animals and live in a sterile bubble. I am not advocating rampant premarital sex ( not denouncing it either) but if you can prevent a disease why would you not. Allowing a profit making industry such as pharmaceutical companies to force teenage girls to get a vaccine is a mistake. It should be up to the parents. My personal opinion is not to take it until it's been out for a few years. If it were my caugter I would not want her to become the test subject for a vacinne that is not yet proven. I wonder what it will do to a woman 20 years down the line. Remember hormone replacement therapy was supposed to be good for your heart and they've since found out otherwise. The best way to prevent any STD is to not have sex before marriage. You have to look at it from a more realistic view however. People are having sex with various partners throughout their lifetime. About 2 Million people are living with HPV. If there is a vaccine that reduces the chance of cervical cancer within women there is no reason it shouldn't be offered. I think it should be made available to all women that are sexually active (at places like planned parenthood) but not required. The current required vaccines are required because if a child doesn't have them they may get the disease and spread it to other children. Since HPV is spread sexually there isn't the same chance for widespread infection among children. |
