People who have gotten the shot for cervical cancer: DOES IT HURT? like really bad? |
my moms friend's niece just got hers and she said it hurt like hell. my stepsister got the same shot and she said the pain moved from one spot to another. i havent gotten it yet but i hate needles It's just a shot. You get it in your arm, not in your cervix. Just don't look when they stick you. A lot of the pain is just in your head, and watching that needle sink home just makes the pain worse. And if you think THAT prick is bad...why are you getting the shot again? im not getting it again...i havent gotten it yet i have had this shot before. It doesn't hurt to bad, its like any other shot you have had before. good luck! Unfortunately, the Gardasil shot is a three part series. I've had two of my three shots. To be honest, the first time, I don't know if this was because the nurse had never given this shot before (which she neglected to tell me until afterwards), but it hurt quite a bit (and i could almost feel the fluid going into my arm), and ached for a day or two after. However, a different nurse gave me the second one, and instead of sitting up like the first one, she had me lie down (which also helps for not seeing them give it to you). That one felt like a pinch and was only a tiny bit sore by the next day. I haven't ever experienced pain besides right where the shot was given. My advice would be to lie down and not watch them do it. Also, eat a good meal before you get the shot. I know someone who fainted from the initial pain because she hadn't eaten lunch that day. All in all though, this is a really important shot to get. It's been shown to be about 100 percent effective in preventing cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is pretty horrible from what I've heard (take a look at the Wikipedia article below), so I definitely think it's worth it to get the shots. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cervical_ca...
