i went to visit may doctor for an annual pap and they detect something that sounds like hypersomething, i do not remember, but is something related with fibroids in my vagina, i would like to know what is it about, i hava to go back with my doctor for an ultrasound and i think a biopsy, so, i know that does not sound that good, but i would like to know some more about it Cervical Cancer 鈥?95% squamous cell @ epidermal level 鈥egins with DYSPLASIA or CIN 鈥淐ervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia鈥?br /> 鈾€ Stage 1 is Mild to Moderate Dysplasia 鈾€ Stage 2 is Moderate to Severe Dysplasia 鈾€ Stage 3 is Severe to Carcinoma in Situ Cervical CA Risk Factors 鈥ssociated with HPV infections*** 鈥ultiple sexual partners 鈥irst intercourse before age 16 鈥moking 鈥rolonged use of OCP ofor more than 5 years 鈥thnicity 鈥mmunosuppression S/S Cervical CA-Early 鈥hin, watery vaginal discharge 鈥loody spotting after intercourse or douching 鈥etrorrhagia ohaving abnormal bleeding; spotting between periods 鈥ost-menopausal bleeding 鈥olymenorrhea S/S Cervical CA- Late 鈥ark, foul smelling vaginal discharge 鈥ain opelvic, abdominal, or back pain oflank pain 鈥eight loss 鈥norexia 鈥nemia 鈥eg edema 鈥ysuria 鈥ectal bleeding It's called HPV virus. It is a virus that is transmitted through sex and normally you don't know if you have it or not. The men have no symptoms and no side effects, but the women run risk of cervical cancer if the cells become abnormal. This happened to me and I have to get a pap every four months to keep an eye out for any changes. They did have to do a biopsy on me (cutting of the tissue and then swabbing it out with this gross yellow-orange stuff that can discharge for a couple of days),but they shouldn't have to do an ultrasound. So you might have to ask them about that, but fyi it's expensive. They are coming out with a vaccine soon, but it doesn't help the one's already affected. What a bummer. Don't get too stressed though...just keep getting check-ups. Best of luck. This info was given to me by my ob-gyn at my last visit. Could the term have been Cervical Hyperplasia? That means that you have an excess of cells on your cervex. The doctor may want to do an ultrasound to rule out that you don't also have endometrial hyperplasia as well and the biopsy is to make sure that the extra cells that are on the cervex are not cancerous (or precancerous). Fibroids are generally benign (non-cancerous), but it's best to have regular paps done as per your doctors advice. I wish you the best! |
