Just started dating a girl with HPV (the cervical cancer cell kind)... condom broke. Do I definitely have it?

I've recently started dating a girl who has HPV (the kind that causes cancerous cells on the cervix). It was a hurdle to get over, but I got past it. We recently started having sex. In an ironic turn of events, my condom broke during the last couple minutes of intercourse. When I was done and discovered that, I washed down my penis, even cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and a cloth (ouch). My question... is it pretty much 100% that I have it now or is there a chance I don't? Also, I know sometimes symptons or none don't show for several years or sooner or never. That being said, can I still see a urologist now to be able to tell if I have it or not?

Few thoughts:

1. HPV does not go THROUGH the condom (unless it's sheepskin). Viral shedding can occur around the genital area, and this is why many studies show that condoms are not protective.

2. If your friend is young (under 20, say?), there's a good chance that she'll "clear" the virus entirely. Her doctor has hopefully told her this. Many younger women may even "regress" from having an abnormal Pap smear back to normal because they are able to clear the viral infection.

3. Likely you will never show "symptoms" even if you have been infected, since the virus types that most commonly cause cervical cancer are not the same as the types that most commonly cause warts.
HPV is one of the most widely spread STD's out there. That being said...I had HPV which led to Cervical cancer, and my man never contracted it. Even if ou do, many times the body builds its own immunity to it, which means it may go away on its own. but be safe and get it checked..Good luck!!!
There are chances that you may have contracted the virus because it is very transmittable. However with the exposure you have described, there is a high probability that you have not become infected. I would suggest you visit a urologist and have him test you for HPV. This is the only definate way of knowing your status. You are right, the signs may not develop for years, and in the meanwhile this could mean you infecting others, so it is smart to find out.
short answer.. No.... Its possible that the virus was transmitted to you and also if so you may never show any signs. Watch for later any unusual signs such as warts, blisters, etc. Bear in mind they may not manifest themselves for day, months, years or never.

No, you don't definitely have it. It's possible. And, unfortunately they can't test for HPV unless you have visible symptoms - at which point they can take a culture & test it. But it won't show up in your blood. And I hate to break this to you, but a condom won't necessarily protect you from it. There are areas that a condom doesn't cover & it can actually go through the condom. It may not show up for months or at all. If you keep your immune system strong, you shouldn't have breakouts. But you can be a carrier even if you never break out. If you're that freaked out about it, refer her to an HPV dating website and find another girl. Seriously, the months of fear, anxiety & paranoia that follows isn't worth the 2 minutes.
