Whats the average life expectancy of some with cervical cancer? |
Whats the average life expectancy of some with cervical cancer? This is a really difficult question. It will depend on the stage of the cancer, if the cancer has spread, and I'm sure many other factors. This site has many links relating to cervical cancer. I'm sure you will find some useful.xxxx http://www.cervicalcancer.ws/hpv_and_cer... The average life expectancy depends on what stage of cancer the person has. The stage depends on how large the cancer is and how aggressively it is invading surrounding tissues. The stages go from microinvasive to stage 4, with microinvasive meaning that the cancer is essentially microscopic and confined to the cervix and stage 4 meaning that the cancer has spread throughout the body. The cure rates I am listing below are the percentage of women who are cancer free after 5 years: Microinvasive --> 100% Stage 1b --> 85-90% Stage 2 --> 60% Stage 3 --> 30% Stage 4 -->10% Remember that these are just averages. The actual prognosis of an individual with cervical cancer depends a lot on their overall health and treatments chosen. These numbers also highlight the importance of regular pap smears. The earlier cancerous changes are found the better.
