Is chiropractic therapy useful for frozen shoulder?

Is chiropractic therapy useful for frozen shoulder?

I think that I would try physical therapy for this condition. From a natural standpoint this takes some time and effort to "thaw" a shoulder or prevent it from completely freezing up. If a patient came to me with this, I would refer them to a PT first maybe some chiropractic in the future.

It certainly can be. When a person has frozen shoulder, not only do they have problems with the glenohumeral joint, but they also typically have upper middle back pain and neck pain associated with using the shoulder with a less than ideal set of muscles. (Shrugging the shoulder to lift the arm)

Some chiropractors will do work directly on the shoulder to decrease the adhesions, and a few even do manipulation under anesthesia for more hard to treat cases.

Seeing a chiropractor who will deal with all of these issues as well as any other compensations that may have arisen would be a good use of your time and resources.

No

No it's not

First off, Jack the Mack seems to only post neg. comments on this board. No basis or facts needed.

As others have said, there are several types of chiropractors. The ones that only treat "subluxations" in the spine and then there are the more science based ones. I have treated several patients with adhesive capsulitis. aka frozen shoulder. I am a chiropractor and No I didnt use chiropractic adjustments as the main treatment. I used the physical therapy type treatment with adjustments if needed.

One thing that seems to work really well with these patients is having them lay on their back with bad arm in external rotation holding a 1 pound wieght with a hot pack on the shoulder for 15 minutes. They seem to get the range of motion back faster with this added to the treatment plan.

Why she has the adhesive capsulitis is important and needs to be diagnosed first. My guess would be she has Diabetes also which needs to be controled first.

If you want to make sure you are seeing the right chiropractor, look for a certified chiropractic sports physician, or one who practices ART or Graston.
These are the Chiropractor/PT hybrids.

Not chiropractics. Oh no!

The very best you can try is kinesiology. A gentle method which will go to the cause of the problem - whatever that may be and whenever that may have occurred.

A kinesiologist will find exactly what needs to be worked on and in which order - all through muscle testing which challenges the body and finds in the body itself the answers as to the places where the kinesiologist must work.

All the best to you!

It will help to get rid of the pain. Once the pain is gone, one has to do regular exercise. Drinking Indian Mulberry helps a lot.

I have to agree with mr. answer. Chiropractic would probably not be the first choice. PT would be good. Massage Therapy (with an LMP who specializes in MEDICAL massage) might also work. There are practitioners of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) who might also have some effect IF they use tuina and/or liniment treatments (most TCM practitioners don't, so be careful. Acupuncture alone likely would not be enough). And of course there could be many others that I can't think of or don't know about.

no doubt, acupressure/acupuncture treatment quite safe and effective.
