CHIROPRACTIC CARE.....scam or legit ?

Please back up your answer with facts & figures. Thanks

excellant. Use one of the palmer method. A government study was done on back pain and it showed chiropractic and exercise as the best options. They were going to do one on neck pain another area chiropractic is good in and the AMA got them to pull the study. But I don't have the link.

I have been in between 20 and 25 car wrecks..once I was run over by a car. I have had a severely herniated disk 4 times and each time my chiropracter fixed me. When I was run over, by that night I could not move. If I moved one inch in bed, I would scream as the intense pain shot all the way down my leg to my ankle. I had to use a wheelchair for a year except for very shot distances. It took me 30 minutes to walk to the next room to use the bathroom. My kids had to help me walk..I frooze up afraid to move the next step as the pain was so intense. I could not take a bath for several months..had to do sponge bath as I could not lft my leg high enough to clear the bathtub.

I went to a neurologist would told me it was severely herniated (chiropractor siad it was the biggest one he had done). I had researched surgery and had some negative risk factors and declined surgery saying I wanted to try conservatively with my chiropractor (as he had fixed me before). The doctor\ yelled angrily atme when I left..saying "I guarantee you will be back,,you won't be able to take the pain."

Well, my chiropractor fixed me..it took a lot time but I am walking. As I have had so many injures so many times, I will never be the same and normal because each injury weakens your back and I do have back pain if I stand very long..but I am WAYYYY better. I shudder to think where I would be if I had had surgery..I hear many bad comments about it.

My sister had surgery for kyphosis (hunchback) as they told her she would have become a guad without it and they wredcked her cutting her from neck to that area and same i the back and she says even 15 years later, it is like laying down on bricks. She says they will never touch her again. My chiropractor feels he could have helped her but he was scared to try as he feared maybe he wasn't experienced enough..

but my chiropracter is a great guy..unfortunately, my insurance canceled chiropractic and I do not have money to go so have been two years without it from once a week..but not doing too bad actually. first poster is outnumbered..most answerer do not think it a scam..so glad the one lady described how the back cn go back to the worng place and it takes time tio get it to hold and stay in the right place..and crzygal..I have to say I think my chiropracter is the best guy in the whole world and one of the most easy going, always happy, easy to talk to people I ever met. I miss him a lot.
"Chiropractic" medicine was invented by an out-of-work fishmonger (Daniel D. Palmer) in 1895, when he claimed to have healed the deafness of a janitor by "spinal manipulation".

While rubbing almost anybody's back will make them "feel better", it is VERY easy to prove that "Chiropractic" is utter nonsense, though not so easy to make it go away!

Invent a symptom. Visit three "chiropractors" and explain the symptom.

Don't be surprised if they give you three different explanations of the cause of the problem, and three different appropriate "treatments"!

Chiropractic is a complete scam, pure & simple. It has no basis in logic or common sense, but appeals to most peoples affinities for magic & "natural" cures.

Having said that, the only real harm it does is delaying people with serious conditions from getting the real medical help they need, and they were probably going to die anyway, right?
Went to a doctor for lower back pains, all I got was $100 worth of pain pills & a doctor bill.Went to a Chiropracter 4 weeks later in 3 visits I was walking straight up,no more back pain & 1 bill for $75.When it comes to my back I will continue with the Chiropracter.
Chiropractors can adjust subluxations in the spine, but having said that, I would avoid any DC's who recommend contracts for multiple sessions over lengthy time periods.
I don't think their a scam. I don't have any facts or figures. I just know that I went because I was getting headaches and nothing else was helping me. I always felt better after a session. It really did make me feel better. I would continue going, I just don't have the money for it right now.
I had a herniated disc, a bulging disc and I have degenerative disc disease. I have managed to avoid surgery and pain meds by seeing a chiropractor and having physical therapy. All an MD could do for me were the drugs or surgery.
Sometimes chiropractic care does require several sessions. Your bones are held in place by your muscles, if your spine is out of alignment, your muscles have compensated for that, some of them becoming tight, some of them are overstretched. The chiro, lines the bones back up but then the muscles will pull them back to where they were. It takes time to get the muscles back in balance.
I'm a massage therapist now and also work with a chiropractor, I see too many people benefit from the treatments to ever believe it's a scam. The ones who think it's a scam are usually expecting a miracle, thinking that one adjustment will "fix" a lifetime of bad posture and most people just want the pain to go away, just because the pain has gone away doesn't mean the problem has. Medications are a quick fix but they don't help you to heal.
my mom went there and after a month she no longer needed to take medicine for back pain. I went and right after i was done i felt alot more energized. it IS real and it DOES help a variety of different problems.
