Studying chiropractic abroad?

I am planning to attend a chiropractic college next year to earn my degree but have yet to decide on a school. Does anyone know anything about AECC Chiropractic College in the UK? Is it harder to take earn your chiropractic degree abroad? Would I be certified in the US if I did earn my degree in the UK?

Hello again! So, I asked around and this is what I found out about the AECC. Unfortunately, getting a degree from there DOES NOT guarantee that you'll be able to practice in America. Currently, a degree from AECC will allow you to practice anywhere in Europe, but my professor told me that this issue is being protested against, because chiropractic isn't recognized throughout all of Europe.

What you can do is study abroad for a few years, but then come back to the US to take the remaining year or two left in the curriculum and graduate at an American school in order to be able to practice here. You would also have to take the National Boards in order to become certified. My professor explained to me that the situation is "complex and always changing."

He also told me that the AECC is not a subluxation-based chiro college, and that it is more geared towards physio-therapy.

I have been attending Life University down in GA for the past 6 months. I know the school has a bad reputation, but this is mainly b/c of Sid W. and the loss of accreditation due to the curriculum. But since Dr. Riekeman (formerly of Palmer) became our new president and the curriculum has been re-evaluated (and accreditation reinstated), the college is doing much better. It has a strong subluxation philosophy base, and I love the positive attitude/environment of the school.

So, I hope I was able to help out a little. If you have any questions you can contact me from my Q&A homepage. Good luck to you!

I strongly urge you to read the material cited at this site below.

You'll put in about as much work and do FAR more good if you just go to medical school or nursing school.

My husband and I lived in two foreign countries and he studied medicine. Believe me, living abroad is no picnic. The foreign schools also believe in long years of study. We came back to US and he sailed thru Chiropractic school. We suggest Los Angeles Chiropractic college in Whittier Calif. It is the oldest and most reputable in CA. Otherwise check your listings for Life Chiropractic or Palmer. Good LucK
