Can chiropractic treat scoliosis? |
Can chiropractic treat scoliosis? A good chiropractic technique for scoliosis is Chiropractic Biophysics - CBP, which combines adjustments, traction, and exercise to correct spinal misalignment. The adjustments remove subluxations and allow the nerves to conduct impulses properly. The traction works to correct the curve, or at least prevent it from getting worse, and the exercises strengthen the ligaments so they can support the new posture. Since CBP is a technique that aims to make relatively drastic changes to spinal column but in a gradual, safe way, your CBP chiropractor will probably want to see you 3 times a week for 8-10 weeks (with maintenance care to follow). But no doctor can guarantee a cure. No matter what you decide to do, I hope everything works out for the best! Source(s): I'm a chiropractic student who used to work for a CBP doctor. CBP is one of the chiropractic techniques with the most scientific backing. http://www.idealspine.com/pages/cbp_tech... If the scoliosis is radiologically measured less than 20 degrees, a chiropractor can help to either arrest it's progression or in some cases reverse it with a high treatment frequency. If it's 20-40 degrees, you must be braced, and chiropractic can help in this area too, though not as a singular treatment. Over 40 degrees is usually time for a trip to the surgeon. Hope this helps. |
