Are people with pudendal neuralgia able to get well via chiropractic adjustments? |
Are people with pudendal neuralgia able to get well via chiropractic adjustments? Ok. This is what I know about pudendal neuralgia (had to look it up). "Pudendal neuralgia (PN) is a rare problem with the pudendal nerve that can affect both men and women. The pudendal nerve runs through your pelvic region, including your genitals, urethra, anus, and perineum. Pudendal neuralgia can cause pain, especially when you sit. Men with pudendal neuralgia may have pain in the buttocks, scrotum, penis, and perineum. Women with pudendal neuralgia may have pain in their buttocks, vulva, urethra, and perineum." And this is what I know about chiropractic (my own words). Chiropractic is based on the principle that the Central Nervous System (brain, spinal cord, and nerves) controls EVERY function of our body, and if there is interference anywhere along the nerve impulse, it has a negative effect on the body. When the spinal column is misaligned (what chiropractic calls a subluxation), the bones can pinch/damage the nerves that run out between them, thus interfering with the CNS signals and causing pain, numbness/tingling, or any type of general malfunction to that nerve's corresponding body. So it all depends on the cause of the PN. If it caused by the pinching of the pudendal nerve, a chiropractor that specializes in adjusting the low back and/or pelvis (including saccrum and coccyx) area could potentially help. I'm not saying this is a guaranteed cure, but it is definitely something to consider. It would therefore be in your best interest to ask around for recommendations for a good DC, google some different chiro techniques that might be more suited to your problem, visit a few offices to explain your situation, and pick the doctor you are most comfortable with. No matter what you decide to do, I sincerely wish you the best of luck. Source(s): Currently a chiro student. Here's the info about PN: http://www.webmd.com/hw/health_guide_ato... |
