Back and neck specialist? Would that be a chiropractic? |
Back and neck specialist? Would that be a chiropractic? For alignment issues, yes. If you are an athlete or someone who has a job with repetitive motion like typing or hammering a chiropractor may help, but a visit to an orthopedist might be a good idea also** A chiropractor is someone who can treat your back and neck and that is all they do so yes they are a specialist.I have used a chiropractor and if your having lots of pain it is well worth it. They usually put a hot compress on you for twenty minutes and leave the room to allow you to relax. They come back in and feel your back and adjust it and also the neck.Of course before all of that they ask you about how you think you got injured and where the pain is and so on.Hope this helps! yes It depends on the reason you need a specialist. Chiropractors do specialize in the spine. I do agree that spine manipulation can help certain conditions of the spine but is often overused as a panacea for many problems that chiropractic alignments and adjustments are not proven to help. I don't really follow the philosophy of why it would help with certain conditions. If a spine segment is "stuck" or restricted in motion that a manipulation can restore the normal motion. Chiropractic philosophy looks at manipulation to realign the spine and restore normal function of the nerves and ease pain and other problems. Manipulations DO NOT realign your spine, nor do they return a subluxed spine segment to its normal location. If this is so, please ask your chiropractor to give you a before and after X-ray and show you. A manipulation is actually done by subluxing a joint which causes the "pop." Having said that, chiropractic care can certainly help neck and back pain if utilized appropriately by sound, well schooled chiropractors. Physical therapy is a good treatment option for neck and back treatment. Physical therapists use joint mobilization and massage to ease pain but also demonstrate exercises to address the source of the problem. In fairness to chiro's, this was written by a physical therapist and I certainly am biased towards physical therapy. |
