STD Question (chlamydia)? |
My little cousin tested positive for chlamydia and she was treated for it. She was given 2 pills and the doctor told her to wait 7 days before having sex? She waited 5 days and had sex. How long did it take for the pills to be in affect? is it possible for her to affect her partner. Only people who have knowledge about this respond please! Yes she could infect her partner. The antibiotic given to treat chlamydia takes a full seven days to take its course and clear the infection. Your cousin and her partner should both be treated again, and then abstain from sex for seven days after that treatment. She should probably call the doctor/clinic who prescribed her the pills and tell them that she needs another dose - this may seem embarrassing at first, but trust me, she's not the first person who has done this. :) It's important that she and her partner get treated. The efficiency of the drug depends on its contents. If the doctor suggested that she has to wait 7 days that means the bacteria will be eliminated form her blood within that range of time. The medicine starts to work right away but 7th day is the best time span needed. Safty first! It is recomanded that her partner needs to check himself up. Not worth taking a risk. It was not proper to ignore the doctor's advice. But what is done can't be undone. Hopefully the drug (was it azithromycin?) must have worked by 5 days and your cousin must be clear by the time. But now, both will need to be tested again after sometime. |
