How did I test positive for Chlamydia, but my boyfriend didn't?

I just gave birth to my 2nd child about two months ago. During my first pregnancy with a prior boyfriend, I was tested for STDs and came back negative for everything.

After this test, my ex cheated on me with at least 1 or 2 other girls.

I am with my current boyfriend, and while pregnant for this baby, I was tested positive for Chlamydia. I was treated ASAP. However, when my boyfriend was tested, he came back negative, and we had been having sex for 9 or 10 months.

I never cheated on him, and he doubts me on that. I can understand where he is coming from, but I really wish he would believe me.

Is it possible that I caught Chlamydia from my ex after he cheated on me, but my boyfriend never caught it from me even after 9 or 10 months... most of which was unprotected sex? Or could he have had it the whole time, but only carried it and passed it on to me?

I just don't understand how this works.

Sorry...I forgot to add that my boyfriend was treated as well for "just in case" measures.

It is more difficult to test males for chlamydia than females. It is common for both males and females to have chlamydial infections and be asymptomatic. At the very least, he should be treated at the same time you are, or there is a strong possibility that you will become reinfected.

It annoys me that your doctor or nurse didn't tell you these things. Try to have you and your bf return to the doc or a clinic and have a discussion about this, and about the necessity for you both being treated, so as not to reinfect one another.

First it was a good thing your guy got treated even though he tested negative because docs usually say your partner should be treated too. It is harder to tell with guys. My friend had Chlamydia and the 3 guys she slept with all came back negative. It was weird and unexplained. It's possible your current guy was just a carrier and passed it to you. It's also possible you got it from your ex, but if you got tested after you stopped having sex with your ex and you were negative, then it wasn't from him.

Your current boyfriend could be a carrier and not actually have it. It was good that you both were treated. If this was left untreated, you could have other problems that could eventually lead to a possible hysterectomy.
