Questions about chlamydia?

I know its an std, and its easy to treat... but i have a few questions....1) can you get it if your in a commited monogamous relationship? 2) What causes you to get it? and...3) How does the first person in the relationship get it?

Very good questions :)

Going to start with #2 first:
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease and thus can only be acquired via some form of sexual activity.

Question #1: The answer to this question is two-fold;
1) If neither people in the relationship have ever been tested for STDs prior to the committed relationship yet one or both have had sexual relations in the past, there's no absolute guarantee that either of you are STD free unless you both get tested.

2) If both have tested negative for STDs (2 separate testing dates at least 6 months apart to include any latencies) and neither have had any sexual relations with anyone outside of the relationship, then no, you will not be able to acquire an STD from each other.

And finally #3: The first person acquires the STD through sexual activity.

Hope that answers your questions! :)
