If chlamydia was treated will i have an ectopic pregnancy? |
Myself and my partner now hubby both had chlamydia when we were met. we were treated straight awau and that was that.I was then sent for an ultrasound to see if i had pid whuch everything was fine. i am now 6 weeks pregnant and scared i will have an ectopic pregnancy as my doctor has referred me for a scan tomorrow as i have lower abdominal pain. i also have ibs as i am not irregular and stressed. the doc feels sure it is ibs pains as it is my left hand side where my large bowel is but i am so scared. any doctors advice would be appreciated we got it treated asap but if it was me who had it when we met the longest would have been a year The odds of having an ectopic in any pregnancy is 1%, having Clamidia or other such disease or surgery or a previous ectopic, the risk goes up to nearer 10%, so the odds are still in your favour. If you had chlamydia for a long period of time, you can scar the tubes, which increases the likelihood of an ectopic pregnancy, but certainly doesn't guarantee it. If it was treated fairly soon after you contracted it, chances of a ectopic pregnancy are barely increased over it happening naturally. The longer you had it, the greater the risk, but again, it still doesn't guarantee it happening. Most likely your doctor is right and its your ibs flaring, but, like you, your doctor wants to be safe. Try to relax- stressing out about something you can't control won't help you or the baby. first of all dont panic as that cld upset the unborn child inside of you. if the chlamidia was treated before you got pregnant then i dont see how it could affect the pregnancy. just wait until you have the scan tomoro, im sure if the doctor thought it was an etopic pregnancy he would have told you. have a look at this i find its a good website if you have any questions an eptopic pregnancy is when a baby starts to form in your in tubes.. there isnt anything in particular that causes this, you dont have any control.. you should be fine. i dont think the two have anything to do with one another. many women have chlamydia for a lot longer in pregnancy and it doesnt affect the pregnancy Depends on the length of time you harbored it.If it was treated as soon as you got it there shouldnt be any problems It does sound like your IBS as you probably know stress irritates it,and you sound stressed to me. |
