Chlamydia/infertility question...alot of questions..? |
i found out my ex gave me chlamydia about 7 months ago...only reason i knew was because i was having really sharp pains in my side, so bad that i had to go to the ER..turns out thats what it was..i got treated an have been fine since..but i been really paranoid that it could have made me infertile..before i got the really bad pains, i missed my period for about 2 months (was not pregnant)...i looked to see if a skipped period is a sign of chlamydia, but i dont see it said anywhere....my question is, was the missed periods because of the chlamydia or could it have been from the fact that it may have messed up my reproductive organs?? Im also not sure how long i had chlamydia for...my guess tho is anywhere from 1 to 5 months at the most..but i kno not all ppl get symptoms, but when ppl do, do they usually show soon, or is it normal for them take months to appear? could my symptoms actually have been PID, not chlamydia? Wen they test 4c hlamydia, do they also test for PID? sry so many ?'s There's a write up on www.yew360.com giving information on infertility this month. To my understanding though, once the chlamydia infection is gone, it's not really of concern if you got immediate treatment. In any case, it's always beneficial to cleanse your reproductive organs after anything like that, and watch the foods you're eating which can affect both PID & your chance of fertility/infertility. I am sorry that you鈥檝e had such a horrible experience. You鈥檙e right; not all people who contract Chlamydia experience symptoms, so it can go undiagnosed. I think my concerns would be any scar tissue that may have damaged or blocked the fallopian tubes. I鈥檇 suggest that you check out the following article 鈥淭he Link Between Chlamydia and Infertility鈥?here: http://www.womans-health.net/chlamydia-a... If you鈥檝e not been to see your doctor, I鈥檇 definitely go for a check-up. Hope that helps! I got chlamydia before too, I had no idea how long I had it, but I had to symptoms or signs. So I think I caught it in time. But you on the other hand, since you said you had pains so bad you had to go to the ER this might have messed up your reproductive organs. Not treating an STD can lead to PID (Pelvic Inflamitory Disease) which cuases death. But PID some of the symptoms are pain in your reproductive organs because it gets this puss and webbing and once that happens there is no fixing it. I have no idea if they test for PID. What you really need to do is go to your doctor. After I found out I had chlamydia I went to my doctor twice a year, because I was worried it would come back or something else would happen. Now since you have missed periods that, I don't think has to do with chlamydia, there might be something else wrong, I'm not sure. But yeah, go to your doctor, that will probably answer alot more your questions better, I could be wrong on some of my stuff. Sorry that you caught it...heres the lowdown. the pain you had more likely from PID chlamydia usually doesn't cause that much pain thats the PID which is treated with antibiotics too. I missed my period when i had it and had horrible pain went to the doc and found out my bf was cheating b/c i had chlamydia. If a person is going to have symptoms they appear 1-3 weeks after contracting it...sometimes not until you get tested if you are worried about infertility call your gyn and ur gyn will tell you more. There is no test for PID itself except physical examination and you are given stronger antibiotics than with chlamydia talk with your doctor. if you need anymore help you can e-mail me if you would like my advice but I'm not a doctor i just had chlamydia that turned into PID. |
