Actual chances of passing on Chlamydia? |
My (female) friend's ex just rang her up telling her he has Chlamydia. She is really upset and worried as she has had unprotected sex with him and I'm trying to help her find out what the chances are of her having it too. Obviously she will get tested but we just want to know what we can about the risk immediately. I know the risk is high but does anyone know some more precise statistics about the likelihood of catching Chlamydia if you have intercourse with someone who has it?(Like percentages or anything...) If this was unprotected sex, and the person had an active chlamydia infection at that time, the chance of transmission would be on the order of 90% per sex act. If she has Chlamydia, she can get it treated and out of her system. This std is cureable, she needs to go to her doctor and get a test done to start the process. She needs to be checked out. |
