I have just had a smear test if i had chlamydia could they see at the lab if i had it?

In the pap smear? No. That is a scraping of cells dried and fixed to a microscope slide. It will show abnormal cells, but not the cause. Most doctors do additional cultures for HPV and chlamydia, but it depends some on the doctor and your insurance (if that applies). Some only do cultures if you request it. Some do then automatically. Just call the office where it was done, and ask them if cultures were done. It they were, you just have to wait for the results. If not, and you want it done, it will mean another trip to the stirrups.

I think it depends on what they are testing you for.
Your smear test can have a result for so many things e.g prob DNA, but they only test for what they are looking for i.e cancer...

Blood is the same they can test for so many sicknesses but if you're having a test for diabetes they will only test for diabetes etc.

No a smear will NOT show if you have chlamydia. This can however be detected by swab, blood or urine checks. These tests will only be checked if your doctor requests them specifically, advising the lab that he is looking for this specific pathogen.

i dunno, i think all they are looking for is cancer in smear tests, they do swabs to check for other infections, i do not know if they check for everything, would make sence if they did though, i just know when chacking for infections its not a smear as what they are donig is wiping cells from the cervix to check for cancer

im not sure, dont they only test for cancer cells?

No,they test for cancerous cells,if you think you have chlaumidia boots give away a free and easy test to find out or visit gu clinic.

if your in the uk,then they dont.They only test for cervic cancer.You have to ask for the chlamydia test.
