What should I do about my fiance with an STD(chlamydia)?

My fiance went on a fishing trip to the Dominican Republic with his buddies and after coming back told me I need to take some antibiotic for an STD. Our wedding is planned for October and I am devastated. He swears he got infected on a dirty toilet but I am very skeptical. I want to believe him but also don't want to be a fool. My parents are livid and want me break things off but I really do love him. Help!

Talk to him, and ask him to be honest. If you feel like he is lying, then you need to consult to a close friend or your parents. If no one on here helps, call Dr. Laura (google for the number)

Dirty toilet eh? well it's possible some STDS such as herpies can live outside the body for a couple of hours, and im sure that it's possible for chlamydia. But if you knew the seat was dirty wouldn't you put some toliet paper on the seat or a seat cover? i'm guy and im not a clean freak or anything but i always do that. Something tells me that he may have gotten a concubine with his buddies and isn't telling you the whole stroy. Anyone can say they got an STD from a toilet seat, but is it true?

WHAT? How does he know it's chlamydia? How does he know he got it from a dirty toliet? This seems weird. Maybe he had this STD before he met you and finally felt he needs to tell you before your wedding? I think answers need to be met before you say "I do". You can be a fool in either 2 ways. He could have cheated on you, or you could let a great guy go and never know if he was lying or not?!?! I would go to the doctor and see if you or he does in fact have anything. I don't understand how someone would go on a fishing trip and all of a sudden come home and say I have an STD.....something had to lead him to making this decision. I have been in nasty bathrooms before but I wouldn't right away expect to have an STD?

I'm very sorry to hear that, but it's VERY rare for someone to contract a STD such as Chlamydia from just using the toilet. The only way I've ever heard was through intercourse... :(

Maybe you should try talking to him again, or get someone else to talk to him about it. Chlamydia can also be treated if he decides to take that route.

I am sorry, but he may be lying to you..it is very difficult to contract an STD from any other source but intercourse...I wonder what he was fishing for?
