I was diagnosed with non-specific urethritis. They said it was probably chlamydia?

but it turned out not to have been after further tests. Why did I have non-specific urethritis? Could it have been too much use of soap around my urethra?

Urethritis can be caused by a variety of microbes:
-Chlamydia
-Gonorrhea

Other possible causes:
-Trichomonas vaginalis
-Herpes simplex virus (HSV)
-Mycoplasma genitalium
-Ureaplasma Urealyticum

Other less common causes:
-Adneovirus
-Candida albicans (yeast infection)

That's why they call it " practice medicine". No body is perfect and that's why you go through so many test. Use of too much soap is a good thing, but rinsing clean is the key. Always make sure you clean well with plan water. If you bath allot, always shower after. But no its not of that you use too much soap. If anything a reaction to the soap can cause a rash that might be sean as a problem. Change soap and rinse good.

Could be scented soap, bath stuff or the liquid used in the washing machine - non-bio sensitive is best.
Sometimes roughish sex can cause an irritation too or vigorous washing of the nether regions.
