Where can chlamydia psittaci be found? Chlamydiophila psittaci (formerly known as Chlamydia psittaci) is a fairly common infection of birds, especially parrots. In humans the bacterium can cause a type of pneumonia commonly known as "bird fancier's lung" It is found in birds, but it can be transmitted to humans and cause respiratory tract infections.
