Is it possible for chlamydia to self cure?

I have always wondered about this. About 15 years ago, I went in for a pap smear. A few days later they called me with the results and told me I had chlamydia and that I needed to make an appointment to get medication for it. I was young, stupid, embarrassed and scared and never made that appointment. I guess I was hoping if I just ignored it, it would go away. A year or two went by and I found out I was pregnant by my long term boyfriend. When I went for my first prenatel appointment, I was scared to death. I knew they would do a pap smear and my secret from the past would be exposed. A few days went by and I did not hear from them, so I reluctantly decided to give them a call and check on the results. They looked it up and told me everything was fine. I was surprised and delighted. I've had many pap smears since then and they always come back fine. How did my chlamydia go away? Is it possible I never had it at all, and the diagnosis was the result of a lab error? I've always wondered

Possibly, I had a yeast infection and it went away by itself, I was in college and too poor to spend the moolah on the cream.
I think u were diagnosed wrong, YOU did not have CHLAMYDIA!!
Chlamydia will not go away by itself. There is a cure, and chlamydia is easy to treat. Certain antibiotics are used to kill chlamydia bacteria. Both sex partners must be treated at the same time to prevent re-infection.

If left untreated, chlamydia can cause sterility in women and men. Chlamydia is the most common and most invisible sexually transmitted bacterial infection in the U.S. Chlamydia is spread through vaginal and anal sex, from the birth canal to the fetus, and rarely from the hand to the eye or through oral sex.

I was told it would not go away. Maybe you were misdiagnoses.?
Sorry, it's with you for the rest of your life. No cure :(
I have never heard of it going away on it's own. It's considered a "silent" STD as often times it's asymptomatic. Women can go years without knowing they have it and it damages reproductive systems if left untreated. My guess is that you were misdiagnosed.
Please see the webpage for more details on Chlamydia. Your Chlamydia infection might have disappeared since you might have taken some broad spectrum antibiotics for some other disease.
