Stages of development of Chlamydia? |
Stages of development of Chlamydia? Chlamydia behaves like any other basic bacterial infection. It is introduced into your body via infected sexual fluid (semen). The bacteria settle into the urethra, anus or vagina. They grow and multiply. If the person does not get treated, the infection starts to spread. It causes inflammation in the vagina, then the cervix (visible as cervical friability -- redness), then into the uterus and all the way up the Fallopian tubes. When chlamydial infection spreads this far, it becomes pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). PID is painful, cuases abdominal aches, soreness and cramping. When PID settles in, scar tissue starts to form in the Fallopian tubes and uterus. Soon these organs get clogged up, and the woman is no longer able to carry a pregnancy. She becomes permanently infertile. Chlamydia is CURABLE. but because most women who have it never show symptoms, they don't think to get checked out at the doctor. If people always used condoms, there'd be far less chlamydia. And if women got tested twice a year like they should (or more if they sleep around), then fewer women would lose their ability to have babies. Source(s): I work for your friendly local health department. go to the site below www.webmd.com There are none. I have had several friend to have the infection until there was an outbreak and they decided to get tested. You can go to the hospital and have the test preformed, it's called a Chlamydia-probe. |
