Is it possible to carry Chlamydia for 3 years in a monogomous relationship and not know it?

I get tested every 6 months for all STD's and HIV every 6 months. Until last week, I tested possitive for chlamydia. My partner swears he hasn't been with anyone else and neither have I. Is this possible?

the answer is yes it could be because chlamydia is a silent disease in one third of the infected women.
on a monogamous relationship with the increase in the number of partners the risk increases . If the last relationship with a someone other than your current partner had occurred three years ago & you do the test every 6 months then it is definitely your current sex partner.
Yes it is!It is persistant mycroorganism, and it is difficult to exterminate it,even with high dosage of medicines.
Yes it is possible, some people can carry chlamydia indefinitely with little indication. But it is highly unlikely, given an normal sex life, that you would not have been infected until 3 years into the relationship.
Why do you get tested for ALL STDs every 6 months if you are in a monogamous relationship?

If I read your question right, you've been with this same guy for 3 years. So in 3 years, you've been tested 6 times, and only the last one was abnormal.

It's unlikely that you have been carrying it if you had 5 negative tests in a row and then suddenly had a positive one all of a sudden. Maybe somebody's been cheating. But it is very uncommon to do chlamydia screenings every 6 months. That's not a normal part of a pap smear, and you only need those once every year.
This is actually to the previous poster that said you only need a pap once a year. That is true if you have no problems, but if you have had issues sometimes there is a need to be checked every 3-6 mos.
