How long, after infected with chlamydia, does a woman become infertile?

Chlamydia itself does not cause infertility. Chlamydia, if left untreated, can cause something called Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. If PID goes untreated can lead to pelvic scarring. In otherwords, after the disease is gone scar tissue builds up in the pelvic cavity and can block the Fallopian Tubes, thus rendering the female infertile. How long that process takes depends on the person. Source(s): 12 years of working OB/GYN
i'm not completely sure. I think I was told if you've been infected with chlamydia on numerous occasions you run the risk. A friend of mine had it for over a yr b/c she was in a 'committed' relationship and trusted her significant other. She's pregnant now so it may also depend on the person
