If you have or had Chlamydia what are the future consequences of fertility? If you HAVE a Chlamydia infection at the moment, and it has not lasted for longer than 1 week, you can get pregnant even now, although untreated cases can cause 1st trimester miscarraiges. But if you HAVE HAD it for longer than this and have not got it treated, then you are increasing your chances of future infertility. If you HAD it before eg some months ago and it was adequately treated with antibiotics for a minimum of 2 weeks, then your fertility is as fresh as ever. If it wasn't adequately treated,a 2nd course of antibiotics for the requisite amount of time will prevent further damage. This is because Chlamydial infections are refractory to treatment and are best treated with a multiple and prolonged course of antibiotics-taken with vitamin supplements ,of course. Left untreated or incorrectly treated, the infection causes chronic inflammations of reproductive tissues, adhesions and synechiae-P.I.D.(Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) and chances of conception are very low. If you get rid of the chlamydia..then pretty good. but if you don't ever go and get the medicine for it.. then no babies for you..and your junk will fall off.. Usually the consequences of fertility are having a child or two. Approximately 30% of women with chlamydia infection will develop pelvic inflammatory disease if left untreated. This in turn can affect fertility. -random physician Cates, W Jr, Wasserheit, JN. Genital chlamydial infections: epidemiology and reproductive sequelae. Am J Obstet Gynecol 1991; 164:1771.
