How long after having sex can chlamydia appear? could it be several years?

say if I have sex with someone 3 years ago can i get it now that i am not with that person anymore

well let me answer your question with a yes ....and a no. Yes you could have been infected 3 years ago and not really shown any signs or symptoms. You still were infected. It would be odd that you wouldn't see any s/s for 3 years but its possible. Source(s): http://health.yahoo.com/ency/healthwise/...
it could be several yrs since there is no tell tale sign of it, until you get tested.
yes it could take years to show if you think you are at risk go to your local health department and get checked ot better safe than sorry. my opion?
you can have it and never show any symptoms at all and as long as you have it it stays unless you go get meds for it it could also cause complications with getting pregnant if you have had for to long
The time between exposure to chlamydia and the start of symptoms鈥攖he incubation period鈥攎ay range from days to months. If symptoms appear, it is usually 1 to 3 weeks after sexual contact with an infected person.
