I suffer with hypertension and high cholesterol which is controlled with medication.?

i have now started having nosebleeds(from (R) nostril most mornings)i put pressure to my nose but it then goes down the back of my throat,it does eventually stop after about 10 mins,is this caused by my blood pressure even though it is being treated, please advise, many thanks.

It could be that if your blood pressure is still raised it is contributing to your risk of nosebleeds. It is more likely to be coincidence however. Get an up to date BP check from your GP and discuss your nose bleeds with him.

The only way to find out is to measure the blood pressure at the time you have the bleeding.

Its probably the cholesterol. You do need to see the doctor to make sure there is no new development in your condition.Better be safe as you have enough on your plate already. If hes says its normal,at least the anxiety is eased and you have peace of mind

hi, it could be, the nose can act like a pressure tap. i to have high blood pressure and i am on simverstatin for cholesterol. get the doc to cauterise your nose. you should be OK as long as you are being treated.............good luck xx

Unless you take your own blood pressure, there is no way to know. It could be caused by blood pressure. It could be caused by too much other medication such as aspirin that thins the blood. It could be a sign of other problems. The best thing to do if it has become a daily thing for more than a week is to go see your physician. He will order some blood tests and take a look at your nose & throat. Then you'll know and can get it taken care of.
