Does butter incease the cholesterol level? |
I am a fan of butter. I love to have bread and butter which I take everyday. I wonder if butter is a factor that contributes to a higher cholesterol level? Yes, absolutely. Butter is fat, just fat and nothing else. To put it simplified: total cholesterol levels are increased by the consumption of fats, particularly saturated fats. The source of saturated fat is more likely to be animal fats, whereas plant fat is more likely to be unsaturated fat which is much better for your health. YES! Animal fat always will.............. its not ANIMAL fat that increases cholesterol, its FAT in general. most of the time bad fats like saturated fats Oh yeah, butter is a heart attack waiting to happen if you over do it. Butter is much, much better for you than any other margarine or table spread. Did you know that the natural colour of margarine is black?? They process every kind of artificial vegetable oil and then put heaps of colourings in it to bring it back to yellow. Butter wins everytime over margarine! If you have a healthy, balanced diet then having a thin spread of butter on your bread everyday will not harm your chelestrol levels. Saturated fats are actually not as bad for you as the media makes out. Its trans fat that is the baddie. Avoid all trans fats (look at nutritional panel on food products for trans fat quantity). Yes it can but if you also balance out your diet with vegetables and low cholesterol food then it will be fine but you should get it checked by a doctor because cholesterol can cause obesity if not careful. |
