Does butter incease the cholesterol level?

I am a fan of butter. I love to have bread and butter which I take everyday. I wonder if butter is a factor that contributes to a higher cholesterol level?

Yes, absolutely. Butter is fat, just fat and nothing else. To put it simplified: total cholesterol levels are increased by the consumption of fats, particularly saturated fats. The source of saturated fat is more likely to be animal fats, whereas plant fat is more likely to be unsaturated fat which is much better for your health.
You must not miss out on Omega 3 though, this is also a saturated fat but it is vital for our survival because we cannot produce Omega 3 ourselves. So eat oily fish like mackerel, salmon, tuna etc about 2-3 times a week and you're sorted.

When looking at your cholesterol levels, make sure to identify the ratio of LDL and HDL - exercise and nutrition can increase the good cholesterol that gets rid of bad cholesterol, whereas a diet high in fats (particularly saturated fat) increases the bad cholesterol that clogs up and stiffens your artery walls.

If you love butter, have you considered that you might just be very used to eating it? Food cravings can be down to behaviour patterns more than the actual need for the food. If we eat a lot of something we may crave a particular ingredient and try to get it from that food. But if that ingredient isn't in that food, then we will eat more and more of it but the craving isn't satisfied.
Why not try other sources of fatty substances, like the oily fish I mentioned, or plant sources of unsaturated fats that have health benefits, like olives or olive oil, or other plant oils (the oil not in excessive amounts). You may find that your craving for butter completely goes away because you are getting what you need. And you'll do your cholesterol level a world of good!
Be adventurous: try new things, it's fun!

YES! Animal fat always will..............

its not ANIMAL fat that increases cholesterol, its FAT in general. most of the time bad fats like saturated fats

btw, there are two types of cholesterol. "good" and bad. HCL and LDL.

look those up. but if you're going to eat butter, try stuff like, i cant believe its not butter.

that sh!t is delicious and not as unhealthy as Country Crap, etc

Oh yeah, butter is a heart attack waiting to happen if you over do it.

Butter is much, much better for you than any other margarine or table spread. Did you know that the natural colour of margarine is black?? They process every kind of artificial vegetable oil and then put heaps of colourings in it to bring it back to yellow. Butter wins everytime over margarine! If you have a healthy, balanced diet then having a thin spread of butter on your bread everyday will not harm your chelestrol levels. Saturated fats are actually not as bad for you as the media makes out. Its trans fat that is the baddie. Avoid all trans fats (look at nutritional panel on food products for trans fat quantity).

Yes it can but if you also balance out your diet with vegetables and low cholesterol food then it will be fine but you should get it checked by a doctor because cholesterol can cause obesity if not careful.
