I am with squatting dog. I get bored with all of this p-value junk, but statins have been shown to be good for prevention of a secondary event (such as a person who has already had one heart attack), but the evidence is still up in the air as to whether it really helps prevent a first heart attack. If it were me, though, and my cholesterol was bad, I would want to take it just because it's a possible benefit.
