High cholesterol, what foods are good or bad ? |
High cholesterol, what foods are good or bad ? Cholesterol is found in eggs, dairy products, meat, poultry, fish, and shellfish. Egg yolks and organ meats (liver, kidney, sweetbread, brain) are particularly rich sources of cholesterol. High-fat dairy products, meat, and poultry all have similar amounts of cholesterol. Fish generally has less cholesterol, but shellfish varies in cholesterol content. Foods of plant origin, like fruits, vegetables, grains, cereals, nuts, and seeds, contain no cholesterol. All whole grain products, vegetables, fruits, and fish are good. Less oil is always good. Avoid junk foods. Mcdonald Double Quarter Pounder w Cheese - Bad Grapefruits are a great natural cholesterol lowerer. I don't know, is lowerer a word. Sorry if not. That's all I know. I've had the same problem. What helped me was avoiding pork, eggs, cheese, especially Camembert, Brie, Roquefort and such, any kind of ham , bacon, lards, saturated fats, and anything deep-fried; I also cut down drastically on beef and poultry, ate more fresh or frozen fish, especially sea fish, but not herring so much. Low-fat dairy products (milk, cottage cheese, curds, yogurt) are OK in small quantities, same as pretty much all kinds of fruit and vegetables. When it comes to fat, it's important not to over-shoot; the body needs some fat, so some nuts, olive oil and rape-seed oil are OK. Vegetables should be boiled or sauteed, with little salt, or eaten unprocessed as a salad - no mayonnaise, of course! Working out, I'm afraid, is a MUST! Bad for high Cholesterol are eggs, all meats , fatty oil products. start the day with oats, with a spoonful of cinnamon powder. almonds and walnuts r also great. In my opinion, it's matter only dose! |
