Is pheasant a nutritious meat? Is the cholesterol found in it bad or good?

At first I had no idea what I was eating. Then someone said it had to be chicken because the way the fat was on it. But then I realized (and I got this as leftovers from someplace w/ upperclass food)...

it had the texture of turkey, had a different flavor, but looked like chicken. I found it on the internet to be pheasant by matching texture and appearance.

So, is it nutritious and good for you? I understand some people freak out when they eat something they did not normally eat when growing up...

I am a former chef and the nutritional info "Cister" gave is interesting, but I have never seen a 1 pound pheasant, they are sold in "braces" a male and female together, and range between 3-5 pounds, and most time if it is served your eating the breast, and if a whole one os done then like chicken the whole bird.

They are very lean and so have to be covered in pork fat or bacon and roasted slow and basted to keep them moist. I have cooked them in hotels with 4-5 star dining rooms, not a popular dish, but tastey if done right as for the cholesterol, they are not going to kill you and not enough is in it to be a danger, as most people eat it only on ocassion.

what ever your info is for chicken, its the same for pheasent, they are one and the same species, the only difference is that domestic birds (chicken) have been bred to have more meat on them per pound of total mass. cooking is identical in every way, can be varied to suit your taste at whim, as far as problems, ignore them in the cholesterol, just eat and enjoy
