I have been taking 20mg of zocor (cholesterol medicine) for 3 weeks and started having muscle cramps yesterday |
Is muscle cramps to be expected with this type of medication? I know I read that muscle weakness, or muscle pain, is a sign to call your doctor, but I didn't remember seeing cramping as a sign to call the doctor. Could they lower the dosage, or should I just try a different type of medicine? Thanks. I would stop taking the medication because it is one of the side effects of statins in general. You also should get your liver enzymes and CK levels checked. Try eating a banana. Some medicines take potassium away from your body, causing muscle cramps. If that doesn't work, you may need to call the doctor. I would ask to change to Zetia. I take that one with absolutely no ill side effects. |
