Can someone who is taking Rosuvastatin for cholesterol let me know how they are doing!?

I have been asked to take this for high cholesterol. Would like some feedback from people who are already on this medication.

Rosuvastatin is used together with lifestyle changes (diet, weight-loss, exercise) to reduce the amount of cholesterol (a fat-like substance) and other fatty substances in your blood. Rosuvastatin is in a class of medications called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins). It works by slowing the production of cholesterol in the body.
Buildup of cholesterol and other fats along the walls of the blood vessels (a process known as atherosclerosis) decreases blood flow and, therefore, the oxygen supply to the heart, brain, and other parts of the body. Lowering blood levels of cholesterol and fats may help to decrease your chances of getting heart disease, angina (chest pain), strokes, and heart attacks. In addition to taking a cholesterol-lowering medication, making certain changes in your daily habits can also lower your cholesterol blood levels. You should eat a diet that is low in saturated fat and cholesterol, exercise 30 minutes on most, if not all, days and lose weight if you are overweight.

In spite of the comments of the pharmacist, statins such as Crestor are safe and effective for the vast majority of patients.

Do some people get side effects from them, of course, just like with ANY drug. Are some of the side effects serious for some of them, unfortunately yes. Again, like any drugs, some patients can have serious side effects.

If these drugs were as dangerous as some claim, you'd think that there would be thousands of deaths, given the millions of statin prescriptions that have been written.

On a personal note, I've been on high dose Zocor and Niacin for many years. No muscle aches, no change in my liver function. Am I just lucky, no. They're safe drugs.

I will never let any of my love ones take any cholesterol drug. I am a pharmacist and Lipitor almost ruined my life. If a pharmacist never hears about the side effects of a drug and never suspected they have mental effects, how are you going to know? Please spend some time on this website www.spacedoc.net for the side effects. Then read what a health diet really is from one of my sources.

Absolutely safe drugs. I have been taking Atorvastatin since 4 years and i have very little side effects of this drug. Just dryness in throat thats all. But side by side you have to eat food with very low saturated fats.
