Cholesterol?!?!?!?!?

Which is condidered good cholesterol?

LDL, HDL, OR triglycerides?

HDL Cholesterol is considered to be the good cholesterol.

Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) Cholesterol is considered to be normal when it is below 140 mg/dL.

High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) Cholesterol can remove cholesterol from atheroma within arteries and transport it back to the liver for excretion or re-utilization. A high level of HDL-C seems to protect against cardiovascular diseases, and low HDL cholesterol levels increase the risk for heart disease. A normal level of HDL is considered to be at 40 mg/dL and above. The higher your HDL level be the better it is for your health. Some natural ways to maintain and raise your HDL level are by aerobic exercising and excluding trans fatty acids from your diet.

Triglyceride is glyceride ester in which the glycerol is esterified with three fatty acids. The normal level is considered to be below 150 mg/dL. Someone with higher than normal level of triglyceride (IE, 350 mg/dL) will be considered to be suffering from hypertriglyceridemia. Cutting back on trans fatty acids, sugar and alcohol along with regular physical exercises helps to bring down any higher levels of triglyceride in the body.

Good Luck !

just to add to that, if you are having doubts about your cholesterol just go have it checked out with your GP. If it is alarmingly high he/she might give you meds to lower the bad (LDL) cholesterol. But my friend (who is a doctor himself) said that HDL (good stuff) and triglycerides are mainly lowered by diet and exercise. Its helping my father (late 50s).
you may also watch to practice different rhymns of breathing, its called pranayama.

try them out. i hoped this helped.

HDL is the good one. I remember it by "L" = needs to be low, "H" needs to be high. Triglycerides are associated with cholerterol and are a component of the body's lipids, or fats. http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.j...

Hope this helps!
