My cholesterol is 7.06 will joinng a gym help or is it too late at my age (47)?

Regular vigorous exercise + a low fat diet might help. It is also going to help you lose weight and look better. Why not give it a try and have the test rechecked in 6 months to see the effect?

No way - not too late!
you don't have to go to the gym - why not try walking every day - start lightly and then work your way up. gradually increase your time and speed. try and do aerobic exercice 3-4 times a week and also include some resitance training to help build muscle (muscle burns fat) You don't have to lift weights to increase muscle - try yoga - I do yoga and it is amazingly difficult but you can start with the easier stuff and then do the harder poses as you get better- the yoga master in this book I have is around 80 so 47 is not too late. start now! tomorrow - even if you just go for a ten minute walk -

It is never too late. You can get fit and healthy at any age. You just have to make the commitment... the secret is consistency. You don't even have to work out like a crazy person! Just a half hour a day, three days a week. Eat right. I don't mean diet. I mean eat right. If you like high fat greasy food... fine! Just don't' eat it every single day. Eat it once every other week. Once. Drink lots of water. I swear, water is something that is so amazing. It is something that is a wonder drink for the body. If you don't stay hydrated, your body's systems start to shut down and not work properly - then your cholesterol will stay up.

Even a brisk walk for a half hour is good enough to see a dramatic lowering in cholesterol. Hope this helps a bit!

Heck no never to late for gym work as long as you don't have bone problems.
Look for food and read the labels to see whats in there.
Soy is excellent for lowering cholesterol when you get butter or margarine make sure its made from olive oil and only cook with olive oil.stay away from shell fish lots of fruit is ok.
This all worked for my husband and hes now at a normal reading

Joining the gym will help as tesco says every little helps. LOL!!! It is not too l8 because my grandad had a 8.03 cholesterol rate and he was 64 then and since he started what he ate more and started going to the gym more his cholesterol rate reduced dramatically. Good Luck and don't give up.

you could be 87 and it not be too late! a combination of diet and activity level will lower your cholesterol to a healthy level.

Its never too late. Modifying your fat intake and including some regular excercise in your life will certainly help to reduce your cholesterol

a good diet.and a good walk.and cut down on the beer.and stop smoking.you do not need expensive gyms.

No way is it too late! And remember you can help lower your cholesterol with diet too! Google it - avoiding certain foodstuffs helps, cheese and prawns for one!

try with omega3 gel pills, they are very good for your problem, an they are natural... sure you have to change something in your lifestyle, but those pills are very useful

Its never to late, you can take those drinks like Benecol they do work, it can drop your levels down by a point or two.

hi, no its never too late and drink the occasional glass of red wine too as that lowers cholesterol.

Change your diet,Going to the gym will do you no harm as long as you exercise in moderation.
