How do you get high cholesterol? I'M 30 years old, married and father of two.?

what causes high cholesterol?

From diet or genetics. Eating fatty , high cholesterol laden foods will increase it . Stay away from cream, too many eggs, butter, fats, fast foods, etc. The other way is inheriting it from your past family members. Stay on top of it by getting your blood tested every 6 months or so , eating right and exercising. You don't have to do anything boring and strenuous, you can play a sport you love, dance, or just get into a regular walking routine on a daily basis. Maybe get the whole family involved to make it fun for everyone and stay healthy at the same time. Best wishes.

The main thing that causes high cholesterol is genetics. If your parents had high cholesterol, chances are that you will to. And, chances are raised that your children will also tend toward high cholesterol, but they've got their mother's genetics also.

The other thing that causes it is diet. Eating high cholesterol foods, including fatty meats, eggs, things fried in meat grease, eggs, cheese, whole milk. Transfatty acids, and hydrogenated oils also increase cholesterol. These are more easily changed by the body into cholesterol.

Eat less fat all around. Watch prepackaged foods for their fat content - read the labels - that's why they are there! If you eat a lot of fast food, think about more healthful alternatives.

Monosaturated fat increases your HDL or "good" cholesterol levels. This in many ways counteracts the LDL or "bad" cholesterol, described above. Monosaturated fats include olive oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, and canola oil.

A high-fat diet and inherited risk factors may be the main causes.

You seriously need to start exercising on a regular basis and cut out fried fatty foods.
