Does a Lab really need two vials of blood to check my Cholesterol and Glucose?

We recently had a blood test for health insurance. I am concerned about them taking 2 vials of blood when I have gotten the same results with a needle stick in the finger. A technician was heard saying they were doing over 50 test on the blood and now they are denying it.

Yes, the lab really needs two tubes of blood to do these tests. Cholesterol requires serum while glucose requires whole blood. The samples need to be placed in two different types of tubes so the tests can be done.

It seems like a lot of blood, but in actuality, the tubes hold about 3 cc of blood. Two tubes worth is about a teaspoon - your body won't miss it, I promise.

yes, a glucose test that is sent to the lab is a more detailed blood test than a needle stick in the finger, also cholesterol is a completely different test, where they test the level of 'fatty tissue' in the blood stream

No, see, they only need a little drop but labs have started employing vampires to do the tests, it's part of the bonus package for working there.

Those tests could have been done using a finger-stick sample. I do that every night.We can usually do about 20 chemistry test on these small samples.
