You can shop around for a higher paying annuity, this is known as using the 'open market option' or OMO.

No it means you have to tell the DVLA, you have to get more expensive life and travel insurance and no you don't get higher pension because they class it as a condition not a disease, the same as people who have a bad heart, arthritis, etc don't get extra and if you don't lower the blood pressure and cholesterol you probably wont live to pensionable age unless by that time your circulation because of the diabetes will have been so damaged you might be able to claim mobility allowance because your legs will have been amputated due to gangrene setting in because of the the high cholesterol and blood pressure.. I am constantly telling my partner all of these things, hes type 2 on medication for diabetes, high blood pressures, high cholesterol and needs to loose weight, I am type 2 diet controlled and blood tests are perfect.

You can only get the higher pension as long as you are among the live and living. Tight control of the diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure will give you a longer life span.

With the way things are going, they will quit supporting those who do not achieve tight control and cut them off with nothing.

The "obesity" and "smoking" epidemics have already cut some people off from pensions, insurance, and health care.

In general, NO.

Any government or employer based pension will assume that your life expectancy is average and ignore any health issues related to you.

If, however, you go to an insurance company and buy an annuity (with that pot of savings you have been so diligently hoarding), the insurer will analyze your health and possibly provide a better monthly amount than a healthy person with the same amount of savings.

What country are you in? There's answers from the UK and US on here, and obviously we both have completely different systems. It would be best to ask at the benefits office or citizens advice (or whatever the equivalent is if you're in the US). You might qualify for some kind of disability benefit, but really those conditions in themselves shouldn't automatically entitle you to extra money, unless they cause you mobility problems or you need a carer or something like that.

Don't forget the new laws that Lord Obama is trying to get through, that will take part of that pension back.

And with THAT list of disease, you're not going to be around long anyway -- maybe not even long enough to get a pension.

Yes, but only because they don't anticipate paying it out for very long!

I would assume, you just have to know how to get it and not get pushed around.

Of course, just apply for a stimulus package from the dems.
