What alternatives to prescribed medications are available to reduce cholesterol?

Garlic pills or eating it fresh everyday in your foods. Onions also help.

I have dropped 112 points by adding garlic and onions into my diet everyday for a year. That is a really good change. Mine is hereditary, so there for it is harder to control then just changing your Diet.

The number one thing to lower it is Exercise.

Fish oil tablets, flax seed/ oil, diet, exercise.

A handful of raw almonds a day
