What foods and drinks will lower cholesterol? |
My father has high cholesterol and we need to cater his diet to reduce it. 1. Whole grains and oats - a five-year Insulin Resistance Athersclerosis Study showed that people whose diets contain the most whole grains 鈥渉ad the thinnest carotid artery walls and showed the slowest progression in artery wall thickness.鈥? Fiber and Omega-3 supplements and/ or fish or walnuts, both of which contain Omega-3. Try to have at least 3 grams of Omega-3 daily and 22 grams of fiber. Reduce saturated fats. Your father may not want to hear this, but exercise does wonders, both cardio and weight training 5 days a week. Omega-3 supplements and/ or fish or walnuts, and also avocados. 6 celery sticks daily have been proven 2 lower cholestoral but the more the better :D Cheerios, oatmeal, whole grains. Here's a good web site....=) |
