They told me I have Herpes virus 1, Epstein Barr, and Chronic Fatigue syndrome. What happens now?

I was told I would be put on meds for herpes. I am scared cause i was always under the impression herpes was a terrible and degrading disease. I get ulcers in my mouth constantly and then the tests came back positive.

What should I expect? Am I contagious? Will I be as sick as I have been? What can i do to make myself feel better and what precautions should be taken to make sure i dont get worse?

If your getting ulcers inside your mouth that may not be caused by the Herpes Virus. You may have a common sensitivity to Sodium Laural Sulfate (SLF). It is a common foaming agent found in most tooth paste. Try switching to a brand that is SLF free like some of Thoms of Main or Rembrandt. Be sure to check the label for the ingredient. With any luck, this may greatly reduce your mouth ulcers.

Do some research on Herpes to better understand when you are contagious. You shouldn't feel stigmatized because most people pick this virus up in childhood usually being kissed by an aunt or family member. Check out: http://www.herpes.com/hsv1-2.html for some good information about herpes. Hope that helps. You might also want to start taking L-Lysine as this helps reduce outbreaks and is not a Pharmaceutical drug. As for being sick the outbreaks can be bad at first but your immune system will gradually fight them off better and better it may take a couple of years but they should lessen substantially.

Now your job is to become an active partner in your illness. You need to do the Research because doctors are busy and often brush aside people with illnesses that they can not easily treat. Join some discussion groups and find out what has worked for other people.

Best of luck

you follow the advice of your specialists.
